LEDs are quite expensive bought locally, so I ordered them from Jameco. This is about 150 LEDs. We decided not to use the orange or green. Since the power use was quite small, even when driving this whole set, I decided to use almost all the white and blue. Ultimately we used 111 lights (91 white and 20 blue); they're configured 3 in series on 37 strands, driven by 8 AA NiCd batteries, totalling 9.6 volts. There's no resistor in the circuit, the batteries drive them direct. There is a fuse, just in case, since NiCds can deliver quite a bit of power.
