07 - Snail and Cactus
Lens is Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro, an old manual focus lens, used at 90mm, probably f/16, 1/125 second at ISO 200, hand held. This kind of thing is just take a picture, check it for sharpness, take another, check it, till you're happy. The depth of field in macro work is insanely narrow. Much of the work is finding a position that both gives a pleasing composition and has important elements in focus (in this case, the snail spiral and one of the thorns). It can take a while to get it right and get a crisp shot; I probably spent 10 or 15 minutes on this one. This is the only picture in this set that is cropped; the original was landscape but I cut it to portrait.
