Lens is Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro, used at 90mm, probably f/8, 1/1000 second at ISO 200, hand held.

The final picture is actually two pics combined. They were taken a few seconds apart; one had the wing in focus, the other had legs and cactus in focus. I moved the wing and long stick part of the body from one picture to the other with Photoshop. The camera was about 12 inches away from the damselfly. In the full resolution version you can see it has something in its mouth, probably a spider. I can only imagine how terrifying these colossal predators must appear to other insects.
