This picture was taken with a leaf-shutter camera. That's why all the speckles of light shining through the background trees are shaped like diamonds instead of circles. Unlike the normal 35mm design, which places the shutter very close to the film, with this design the shutter is at the aperture in the lens, so out-of-focus elements in the picture take the shape of the open shutter.
