112 - King Tut BattleMany items found in Tutankhamun's tomb depict the war between Egypt and Nubia. Naturally, they all show Egyptians victorious. Many show captives from Nubia, Libya or the Middle East. The illustration above, which was painted on the side of a chest, shows a single Egyptian soldier massacring Nubian soldiers. (Note the severed head, lower left of center.) If this illustration is accurate, both Egyptians and Nubians fought barefoot and wearing a short skirt and, in the Egyptian's case, a small shirt. Fortune favors the brave, and they must have been brave indeed to go into battle wearing that. Most of the Nubians in the picture have been struck with arrows.
