01 - Stars and Windmill
Copyright ©2008, Alan Bryant

Lens is Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4, used at 17mm f/2.8, 30 second exposure at ISO 1600, camera on tripod.

The lens isn't very good at f/2.8, and this picture would not look good enlarged. It's too fuzzy. This shot was composed and focused with a flashlight on the windmill so I could see. I did a lot of test exposures to get it right. It was a headache to get the windmill aligned so it doesn't look like it's falling over. None of the stars were visible through the viewfinder.

The Milky Way, clearly visible in this photo, is quite easy to spot in Wimberley at night.
